The Australian Government has updated its travel guidance for several Middle Eastern destinations, urging travelers to carefully consider whether their trips are necessary as security concerns continue across the region.

Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia have all been raised to Level 3: Reconsider Your Need to Travel on the Australian Government's Smartraveller advisory service. The updated guidance reflects the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the security situation in the Middle East.

According to the advisory, Australians should avoid non-essential travel to these countries. Those who must pass through them are encouraged to keep their stay as brief as possible and avoid unnecessary activities while in transit.

The latest changes mean Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia now join Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, which are also currently classified under Level 3 travel advice.

Meanwhile, six countries in the region remain under the highest travel warning, Level 4: Do Not Travel. These include Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, the Palestinian Territories, Syria and Yemen.

Australian officials have warned that conditions remain unpredictable and can change rapidly. Travelers should be prepared for the possibility of sudden airspace closures, flight disruptions or cancellations, and unexpected border restrictions.
